While teaching at Merrillville Intermediate school, I helped run a club called Time to Invent. This club focused on teaching 5th and 6th graders the skills needed in a world that is surrounded with technology. The club taught students computer science and engineering concepts through inventions. The students also learned problem-solving strategies and improved their communication skills. The club was featured in an article by the NWILife website.

Medium is a blogging website dedicated to individuals who not only have a view on something but write from a viewpoint. While studying at Indiana University, my reading and english cluster did a multi-genre project where we posted our final projects onto Medium's website. For my project I wrote about Makerspaces in Literacy, and how this idea of creating your own learning can help students improve upon their literacy skills. This project contained a feature article where I explained what a makerspace is and how they incorporate ideas from STEM and STEAM education. After the feature article I then have two different genre pieces - a poem and a flyer created using Smore. This project can be modified to fit any age group, and does not need to be done on a computer.
Physical Education Game and Brain Break Lesson Plans for the Classroom
As part of my gym class at Indiana University, I had to compile a final notebook filled with physical education games the could be used in a gym class as wells as brain breaks in the classroom. Being a teacher, you never know when and if you'll be needed to teach a gym class, so it is best to be prepared with gym games for every developmental level. There are also brain breaks for every developmental level that can be easily implemented inside the classroom. Brain breaks are great to use in your classroom to give the kids a mini fun break that incorporates physical activity. Physical activity is proven to help students focus and persevere through their work. Below is the final notebook!
